Paddle Reamer
DRILLNOVA Paddle Reamers use an open-body mixing profile, fluid distribution and replaceable carbide cutters for HDD bore enlargement in silty clay, muddy clay, loam, sandy clay
DRILLNOVA HDD reamers are engineered for controlled bore enlargement across soft soil, mixed formations and competent rock. The range combines open-body soil reamers, fixed-cutter PDC designs and roller-cone rock reamers, allowing the cutting action, body style and spoil-flow characteristics to be matched to the expected ground conditions and reaming plan.

DRILLNOVA Paddle Reamers use an open-body mixing profile, fluid distribution and replaceable carbide cutters for HDD bore enlargement in silty clay, muddy clay, loam, sandy clay

DRILLNOVA Multi-Stage Reamers use progressive carbide cutter rows and deep spoil channels to distribute cutting load during HDD bore enlargement in compacted clay, controlled gravelly ground

Use the factors below to identify which reamer family, cutting structure and body style best match the formation profile, target bore size and available drilling equipment.
Review the proportions of clay, silt, sand, gravel and rock, together with strength, abrasiveness and transitions between layers. Changing ground may require a different cutting action or a staged tool strategy.
Confirm the pilot-hole diameter, required final bore size and planned enlargement sequence. A practical diameter progression helps manage cutting load, torque, pullback and spoil volume.
Match the cutter and body style to how the formation breaks, mixes and moves through the bore. Open flow paths, appropriate drilling fluid and sufficient annular clearance support spoil transport.
Verify available torque, thrust, pullback and fluid capacity, then confirm the connection type and compatibility with the drill string and other reaming components.
Before shipment, each HDD reamer is checked for cutting-structure condition, critical dimensions, connection compatibility and overall workmanship. These checks help confirm that the tool matches the approved configuration and is ready for the intended reaming application.
Use the available geotechnical information to identify soft layers, gravel lenses, weathered zones, competent rock and any expected transitions along the bore path.
Plan each enlargement step around the pilot diameter, final product-pipe requirements, formation behavior and rig capacity. Avoid assuming that one tool or stage is suitable for the entire crossing.
Consider drilling-fluid properties, flow availability, annular clearance and the expected volume and character of cuttings produced during each stage.
Before each pass, check cutting elements, roller cones where applicable, body condition, connections and fluid passages. Replace or service worn components according to the approved maintenance procedure.
Compare PDC, roller-cone and soil reamer designs after the formation profile, target diameter and planned enlargement stages have been established.
